When a ten-year-old boy turns up in Dr Robson Ford's Harley Street clinic showing clear signs of tuberculosis, the experienced physician is baffled, especially when he learns the child had just returned from Africa, where he was vaccinated against the disease. The vaccine, named Bercuvax, can't be found in any medical database, and those behind it aren't answering questions. Realising something is deeply wrong, Ford calls in an old university friend-Declan Walsh, a freelance medical journalist with a nose for cover-ups. Together, they follow a dangerous trail from the shadows of the pharmaceutical industry to the deadly undercurrents of African politics. Behind the plot: two billionaire masterminds, irreverently whispered about on Wall Street as The Cadaver and The Shark.Gripping, fast-paced and disturbingly plausible, The Cadaver and The Shark is a medical thriller that will keep readers turning pages late into the night.
