Union Pacific Historical Society, hardcover, 288 pages, 11 x 8.5 x.5 in., B&W and Color photographs. This excellent book on Union Pacific cabooses is a must-have for Union Pacific fans and caboose fans. Beginning with the earliest cabooses on the UP, wooden 4-window cupola-less cars, to the steel slogan-bearing cars used until the common demise of the use of cabooses in the 1980s, and to the second-hand cars acquired with the demise of the Rock Island and the various mergers, its all here! Diagrams, line-drawings, painting specifications and rosters together with the numerous black and white and Color photographs give the rail enthusiast and model railroader all the information one needs to learn about and model UP cabooses. With help from many sources including Union Pacific department records and the Union Pacific Historical Society this is a complete work. Also included with the rosters are notes on the disposition of many cars and their locations.
