- Book 1 of 1: The Brain-Informed Innovation Framework Series
Why do some people consistently generate creative ideas, solve complex problems, and recognize opportunities that others overlook?
The answer lies not in talent alone, but in how they observe, think, learn, and connect ideas.
Curiosity Builds a Creative Mind is the first volume of The Brain-Informed Innovation Framework Series, introducing an original and practical framework that integrates curiosity, neuroscience, creativity, structured thinking, systems thinking, innovation, and environmental stewardship into a lifelong learning journey.
Drawing upon more than three decades of professional experience in agriculture, integrated water resources management, climate resilience, environmental stewardship, research, teaching, and technological innovation, Chandima P. Gunasena presents a clear and accessible approach to understanding how creative thinking develops and how it can be intentionally strengthened.
Rather than viewing creativity as a rare gift, this book demonstrates that it is a learnable process. By cultivating curiosity, careful observation, structured thinking, and continuous learning, anyone can improve their ability to solve problems, generate innovative ideas, and make meaningful contributions to society.
Inside this book, you will discover how to:• Develop curiosity as the foundation of lifelong learning and innovation.
• Understand how early experiences and the environment shape brain development.
• Apply brain-informed learning principles to strengthen creativity and problem-solving.
• Use systems thinking to understand complex real-world challenges.
• Build structured thinking skills for better decision-making.
• Explore the Six Functional Units of Thinking and their role in creative and innovative processes.
• Learn from practical case studies drawn from environmental management, engineering, technology, and sustainable development.
• Develop the mindset required to become an effective innovator, leader, and responsible steward of the future.
Whether you are a student, educator, researcher, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, environmental professional, policymaker, or lifelong learner, this book offers practical insights and proven thinking strategies that can help you develop creativity, improve decision-making, and create meaningful solutions in an increasingly complex world.
More than a book about creativity, Curiosity Builds a Creative Mind is an invitation to transform the way you think, learn, innovate, and contribute to a more resilient, sustainable, and compassionate future.
Volume I establishes the foundations of the Brain-Informed Innovation Framework.
Volume II extends these principles into advanced creativity, leadership, innovation practice, systems design, and future-ready thinking.
Every discovery begins with curiosity.
Every innovation begins with structured thinking.
Every meaningful future begins with the courage to keep learning.
Your journey begins here.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
