31pp. Original printed wrappers. Mild soiling. Ink annotations on titlepage, some whited out. Overall, very good. An exceedingly rare historical account of the Confederate years in Polk County, Tn. This regimental history was written by Tennessee Confederate Private A.J. Williams, also identified on the titlepage as "Former County Chairman, County Court Clerk and Clerk and Master, Benton, Tenn." Williams dedicates the work to "the memory of the Confederate soldiers of Polk County, Tenn." Williams' work includes chapters on the history of the county, an excerpt from a "Confederate Diary," the Third Tennessee Regiment, other Confederate companies from Polk County, the Polk County Cavalry, "Fights and Raids in Polk," the occupation of the county by the Union, and concludes with a list of cavalry members who surrendered and were paroled at the end of the war.
