Item description from seller

4to. pp. 47, [ii] blank, 32., recto only. The text only takes up a quarter of the contents. The remaining leaves are blank. Figures in the text. Original dark green leather-like cloth. The contents include a history of industry, modern types of business undertaking, economics, money, heat engines, steam turbines and internal combustion engines. William McLaine (1891 Ð 1960) was an engineer, Marxist and trade union activist. He joined the Amalgamated Engineering Union in 1912. An educationalist with the Plebs League and National Council of Labour Colleges, he published a book on economics based on a series of articles he had written. In 1950, the Amalgamated Engineering Union approached the National Council of Labour Colleges about running a course on Industrial Management. William McLaine became part of the team working with Frank Chapple, Nancy Hewitt and Billy Hughes. He later became actively anti-communist. Very good. Very good.
