The preface states the editors' threefold purpose: 1) To provide a single source in which students of American minorities may find ample English language materials to facilitate their research; 2) To provide such materials in a format that makes readily possible the crossing of disciplinary boundaries; 3) To encourage students of one minority or one group of minorities to take a broader, perhaps comparative, approach.
