A work of very great use and curiosity. Done into English from the ORIGINALS. The FOURTH EDITION 1748, carefully corrected, with large ADDITIONS, in Two Parts, Part Two begins with a caption title: 'Pomet's general history of drugs: with what is farther observ'd by Lemery, Tournefort, and others on the same subjects. 4to, approximately 260 x 200mm, 10¼ x 8 inches, 86 full page copper engraved plates showing 400 images (2 plates, 38 and 52 misplaced), pages: xx, 1-220; 1-202 followed by 10 pages of index and an advert, bound in full modern speckled dark calf, gilt lettered green label, gilt rules and date to spine between raised bands, new brown endpapers. Binding covers slightly pitted and scored, pale browning to title page, small worm track neatly repaired to top margin of title page and following 16 prelim pages, none affecting text, pale brown offset from most plates onto facing text, 4 margins edges slightly dusty with pale browning, otherwise a good tight solid copy with clean plates.
