Paperback. CJ is a whiz on the basketball court, but a bad grade in Science might keep him from playing in the next big game! His teacher gives him a chance to redo his project to bring up the grade, but CJ is worried that he won't be able to do it. With a little advice from his coach, CJ finds the inspiration to be as confident with himself about school as he is on the basketball court. Then he gets a great idea from his friend, Tim: Use something he loves, basketball, to explain "gravity" for his project. Things are looking up, and CJ might score big with his project, after all. In CJ'S BIG PROJECT, CJ learns that responsibility isn't always easy. Sometimes, you have to take care of the important things to be able to do the things you love. It's also about having confidence in yourself in all areas of your life, even when you're not the best at something and it may seem like an impossible task. Author C.J. Watson played professional basketball for ten years in the NBA. He shares real stories about his life as "CJ" he hopes will inspire young boys to believe in themselves and follow their dreams. What if your child faced every challenge with the same confidence they bring to the things they love?
Confidence doesn't always show up the same way in every part of a kid's life. CJ's Big Project is a fun reminder that confidence and a little creative problem-solving can turn an impossible task into a possible one.
CJ can hit a jump shot from anywhere on the court, but a bad grade in Science might bench him before the biggest game of the season. When his teacher gives him a chance to redo his project, CJ isn't sure he has what it takes. Basketball? Easy. Science? That's a whole different ball game.
With encouragement from his coach and a brilliant idea from his best friend Tim, CJ discovers something powerful: the same confidence that makes him great on the court can make him great anywhere, even in the classroom. And when CJ decides to use his favorite thing, basketball, to explain gravity for his project, things really start to look up.
In CJ's Big Project, CJ learns that responsibility isn't always easy. Sometimes you have to take care of the things you need to do before you can do the things you love, and it's your confidence in yourself that gets you there, even when something feels totally outside your comfort zone.
Perfect for bedtime read-alouds and classroom discussions alike, CJ's Big Project gives parents and educators a natural way to talk with kids about confidence, responsibility, and creative problem-solving, even when they're not the best at something yet.
