Dim.: In 4º (22x16 cm) with [iv], 159 pp. Binding: Contemporary full calf. Slight damage on corners and headband. Black edges. Title page in black and red. Work printed on thick linen paper in round black and red characters. It contains music scores of prayers and memorial services. A rare second edition of this liturgical work first edited in Lisbon in the year 1750. An important source for the study of liturgical practices and for the use of music in religious celebrations. It was printed at the printing house of Luís Ameno in Lisbon sponsored by the Brotherhood of the SS Peter and Paul erected in the parish Church of St. Julian. It contains the hymns and prayers for the soles of the Brothers, and with the office of the dead being used at the Brotherhood. St. Julian?s Church located in downtown Lisbon had since the middle ages until the 20th century a brilliant religious livelihood and three brotherhoods headquartered there, being one of them the Brotherhood of SS. Peter and Paul. With downtown Lisbon being depopulated, the existence of several churches near one another, and the Patriarchate of Lisbon being short of funds to build new churches in the modern part of town, the Cardinal Patriarch, D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira, decided that the owner of St. Julian?s should sell the Church to the Bank of Portugal so that the funds from the sale could be used to build the Church of Our lady of Fatima in Avenida de Berna, one of the most beautiful forms of religious modern art. Most of St. Julian?s assets is kept at the new church and includes several documents of the Brotherhood that.
