Butterflies and Moths in Romance and Reality provides an engaging study of lepidoptera, blending scientific observation with the historical and folklore-based "romance" of the species. Written by the esteemed entomologist W.F. Kirby, this volume was published posthumously under the supervision of his son, W.E. Kirby. The work is noted for its accessible prose and its inclusion of twenty-eight vibrant colored plates that illustrate a wide variety of species. This edition, issued by The Sheldon Press, serves as a durable and attractive reference for collectors of early 20th-century natural history.
