Paperback. A machete. A weaponized steam train. And a family vacation straight through hell. Teri was seconds away from putting a machete through her husband Kyle's skull before the zombie virus finished claiming him. But when David Butterfield-a ghost from their past who somehow survived his own brush with the undead rage-reappears with a wild claim, the execution is put on hold. Kyle isn't just infected; he's the patient zero who started the apocalypse, and a deadlier, mutating airborne strain is currently cooking inside him. To save what's left of her family, Teri has to trust a man who used to eat raw possums for breakfast, chain her vegetative husband to a tractor, and fight their way across a blood-soaked wasteland. Destination: A rumored cure in Colorado. The only things standing in their way? A thousand miles of tracks, an arsenal of stolen guns, and a massive, flesh-eating horde waiting for them in Texas. Strap in for a foul-mouthed, gore-splattered, relentlessly violent ride where survival requires a heavy dose of firepower, a lot of luck, and a giant steam engine named Thomas.
