Synopsis

The burst assembly is an important factor for providing a successful OBS. The burst loss can be reduced and the burst traffic can be avoided if a proper burst assembly algorithm is selected. The process in which the input data is assembled from the higher layer into bursts at the ingress edge node of the OBS network is known as the burst assembly process. When the packets are received from any higher layer, their storage is done within the electronic buffers as per the destination and the class. On the basis of the assembly policy, the packets are placed into bursts with the help of the burst assembly method.
