Originally published in 1848, this investigative report delves into the dark underworld of London grave-digging and the bone trade. The author, a journalist and social reformer, presents a shocking exposé of the criminal activities surrounding London's burial grounds, including vandalism, arson, robbery, and murder. Drawing on extensive research and interviews with witnesses and insiders, he paints a vivid and disturbing picture of the gruesome business of body-snatching and the exploitation of the dead and the poor. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of crime, medicine, and urbanization in Victorian London.
