About the Author

Ian Rivers is professor and head of psychology at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is the author of over 70 articles and book chapters on bullying and homophobia in schools. He is the recipient of the British Psychological Society's 2001 award for Promoting Equality of Opportunity in the United Kingdom through his work as a researcher and psychologist. Neil Duncan is senior lecturer in education at the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom. He is the author of Sexual Bullying (1999), considered by practitioners and academics alike to be one of the most significant texts on the nature and expression of verbal bullying among boys and girls. Valerie E. Besag is an educational psychologist and former teacher who is an international expert on school bullying prevention. She is the author of Bullies and Victims in Schools and Understanding Girls' Friendships, Fights, and Feuds. Besag has been the recipient of the prestigious Churchill Fellowship, which allowed her to travel overseas to further understand and explore the phenomenon of bullying and peer support in schools.
