Hardcover. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmans greatest contribution to history is the nation he rebuilt from the ruins. Countless texts, articles, books, political and popular discourses have rightfully been dedicated to record, celebrate, and critique his political journey. Following Bangabandhus assassination and subsequent autocratic regimes, the glorious history of his efforts to bring stability to his nation has not only been ruthlessly suppressed, but also been replaced by manufactured stories satisfying the autocrats. This book aims to offer an overview of the method and actions of Sheikh Mujib to craft a newborn state overcoming the immense loss of life and livelihood in the war and his constant fight with regressive elements in the state and society, natural calamities, and global and local conspiracies.A State from Scratch sheds light on a great leader to whom we are indebted for nearly every institution Bangladesh is standing on. The account of how Bangladesh was founded and, in a remarkably short space of time, built into a nation with institions and systems that have stood it in good stead for the nation's development today.
