3 + 76 pages, extensively and brilliantly illustrated, a unique book on the history of the buildings of Lagos, Nigeria, as told by Prince Akinsemoyin, a member of the Royal Family of Lagos and an expert on the history of the city, and Alan Vaughan-Richards (1925-89), married to a cousin of his co-author, and an architect of significant renown in Lagos' history. Book is arranged landscape (220mm high X 310mm across), in stiffened orange covers, within a yellow jacket. An amazing amount of historical detail on Lagos and its buildings, set out along chapters mainly by timeline, viz: Indigenous Style, Portuguese Influence, Advent of Emigrants and Missionaries, The Catholic and Christian Influence, The Colonial Era, Transit to Independence, At Independence, and Building and the Lagos Climate. The expertise of historical knowledge and architectural professionalism shines through in this astounding book.
