"Buddhism and Buddhists in Southern Asia" offers a comprehensive exploration of the Buddhist faith as practiced across the southern regions of the Asian continent. Written by scholar Kenneth J. Saunders, this work serves as an essential introduction to the living traditions, rituals, and philosophical underpinnings of one of the world's most influential spiritual paths. The text delves into the everyday lives of practitioners, providing insights into how Buddhist teachings shaped the social and cultural landscape of the region in the early twentieth century.

Through a blend of historical context and contemporary observation, Saunders examines the core tenets of Buddhism while highlighting the unique regional variations that characterize Southern Asian practice. The book addresses ethical frameworks, monastic life, and the enduring influence of the Buddha's message on both the individual and the community.
