Neuware - In 1920s Idaho, where the Old West is rapidly fading, a series of mysterious deaths rocks a ranching community. Each victim is found carefully posed, mirroring historical photographs from the 1880s range wars. When rancher Jack Hawkins discovers his wife Catherine was murdered while investigating these deaths, he and his daughter Sarah uncover a decades-long conspiracy of land theft and murder orchestrated by the powerful Harrison bank.

The truth lies in the work of Thomas Burton, a 19th-century photographer who documented suspicious ranch deaths that always preceded land transfers to the bank. Now Deputy Ben Foster is recreating Burton's photographs with new victims, continuing a dark legacy of murder disguised as historical preservation. As more ranchers die and water rights hang in the balance, Jack and Sarah race to expose a conspiracy that spans three generations—before they become the next subjects in Foster's grim collection.
This literary thriller weaves together mystery, historical fiction, and Western elements to explore themes of progress versus tradition, the power of documentation, and how the past echoes through generations. Perfect for fans of Craig Johnson's Longmire series, Larry McMurtry's westerns, and historical mysteries that dig deep into buried secrets.
