How We Broke America is a concise, action-driven guide to repairing America's faltering political systems, authored by an engineer who views government as a malfunctioning process. Inspired by the biblical book of James, which ties faith to deeds, the book delivers a practical checklist to restore America's core outputs: safety, security, and opportunity. Eschewing lengthy analysis, it identifies problems, their impacts, desired outcomes, and actionable steps, structured as a sharp executive summary.
The author, Jerrod Sessler is "America's Engineer," and he argues that bad choices, fear, and selfishness have eroded the nation's biblical foundations, diminishing its divine role as a global beacon of liberty. America's government, built on scriptural principles, must produce tangible results, yet safety, property rights, and prosperity have declined.
Critical fixes include preserving the Supreme Court's structure, restoring federalism, securing borders, ensuring electoral integrity, and protecting Second Amendment and parental rights. Vital reforms promote judicial originalism, biblical values in policy, and economic self-reliance, while others tackle media accountability, Big Pharma, and public health issues like processed foods.
Spiritually, the book frames America's challenges as a fight to fulfill God's call to share His grace worldwide, not hoard blessings. It rejects the "separation of church and state" myth, asserting that governance should reflect biblical morality. Individual callings are central-readers are urged to discover their God-given missions (detailed in Appendix B) to support America's revival. President Trump's liberty-focused leadership is highlighted as aligning with this vision.
Written in a direct, no-nonsense tone, the book uses metaphors like America as a factory or a Truman Show bubble to clarify complex issues. Its punchy style prioritizes clarity over fluff, urging swift action to reverse the decline. "The checklist is a mandate for those who care about America's future," emphasizing collective and individual responsibility to restore the nation's processes and ensure a legacy of freedom.
How We Broke America is a compelling blueprint for reform, blending an engineer's precision with spiritual conviction to challenge readers to act boldly and Make America Great Again.
