About the Authors:
Carol Berkin is a professor of American history at CUNY, and deputy executive officer in the Ph.D. program in history. She has written five scholarly books and contributed to several collections of articles and textbooks. Berkin was the commentator for the A&E series Founding Fathers and the upcoming series Founding Brothers. She lives in New York.
