About the Author: Lito Tejada-Flores was born at 13,000 feet in the Bolivian Andes, and has spent much of his life in high places, rock climbing and mountaineering in Yosemite Valley, the Alps, Alaska and Patagonia. Since the 60s he has pursued his non-stop passion for skiing, and has been lucky to be able to share his love of skiing through writing, teaching and filmmaking. Lito first published his innovative approach to mastering expert skiing in the book, Breakthrough on Skis, which became the best-selling ski instruction book of all time. An expanded version, Breakthrough on the New Skis, took Lito’s ideas one step farther. And in a companion series of skiing videos, Lito convincingly illustrated his idea that expert skiing is no harder than intermediate-level skiing, just different. When not skiing, or thinking about skiing, Lito keeps busy as a publisher, graphic designer, environmental activist, and occasionally, poet. He lives half the year in Chilean Patagonia, half the year in the Colorado Rockies, with his true love, wilderness photographer, Linde Waidhofer.
