Irma Gold, Midnight Sun Publishing. Condition remarks:Book: Good Jacket: No dust jacketPages: Good Markings: SignedCondition remarks: Condition as shown in image, previous owner stamp on FEP - pages otherwise clean and bright. Set against the lush and complex backdrop of Bali, The Breaking is a work of literary fiction that chronicles the intertwined lives of two women - an Australian tourist seeking escape and a young Balinese woman navigating the pressures of tradition and modernity. Irma Gold crafts a narrative that is both tender and unflinching, illuminating the ways in which culture, expectation, and personal desire collide across vastly different worlds. The novel presents themes of freedom, sacrifice, and the quiet violence of societal constraint with a lyrical prose style that draws readers deep into its richly rendered setting. At its heart, it is a story about the breaking points that define us - the moments where identity is either surrendered or fiercely reclaimed.
