Item description from seller

These new paperback books were printed in 2023 (25th printing by Cenveo) and are signed by my Dad prior to printing: "Best Wishes, Allen Smith, Jr., Grandson of Clinton L. Smith". True narrative of the only known brothers, Clinton L. Smith and Jefferson Davis Smith, to survive the hardships of captivity by hostile Indians. Undistorted by interpretation. Unfolds in diary-like fashion as if the author were speaking to you in person. After describing the life of the author's Texas pioneer family, the story explodes with the gut-wrenching incident of the Smith boys' capture, their induction and indoctrination into the Indian tribe and life, and the purchase of one brother by Geronimo. Unforgettable insight into Indian life.and death, including Indian raids, battles, war dances and hunting adventures. Henry Smith, Father of Clint and Jeff, was a City Marshal in San Antonio prior to joining the Texas Rangers in 1861. Clint and Jeff have Texas Historical Markers at their gravesites. Henry is buried on what is now part of Camp Bullis. His gravesite is protected by the Texas Historical Commission. Henry’s Texas Historical Marker and Texas Ranger Marker are located in the Smith Cemetery, Bergheim, TX This book is very easy to read and is thoroughly enjoyed by adults and children alike. It has been used as the subject of many book reports, has captivated classrooms during story time, and has also been used for home school.
