Item description from seller

Two issues in "almost good" condition for their age, though there are stains and folded edges--but they do not crumble when smoothed out because paper is very fine; bindings are firm; some chipping at lower edge of the front panel of the December but that might be due to minor biopredation--more easily identifiable rodent damage is at lower back margins of the November issue but text of ads appear not to have been palatable and were left alone. November articles include: "Fidelity of Slaves;" "The South's Power of Self-Protection;" "Rights and Dignity of Minorities;" "African Colonization Unveiled;" "Mountain Scenery of North Carolina" and others. December's issues include: "French Revolutionary History by Americus Featherman, Esq. of Louisiana; "The Domain of Fashion" by George Fitzhugh of Virginia; "Dr. Cartwright on the Negro Race," "Home Education and Schools," and others. Many interesting ads in both issues with fine engravings for products made in the north as well as the south still: "The Grenoble Fire Hose;" "The Day Book for 1861" with engraving of publishing house in New York; "New York Lines" steamship schedule and prices, "J.T. Smith Saddlery," J.B. Lippincott in Philadelphia, Tiffany & Co. jewellers in New York, as well as usual proliferation of ads for land, tools, plantation machinery, guano, patent medicines, musical instruments, including the harp, clothing, dry goods, furniture, crystal, china, silverware, etc.December's articles include.…
