Fine Binding. Condition: Very Good. First Thus. THE BOW OF ORANGE RIBBON A Romance of New York Amelia E. Barr. F. Warne & Co Ltd., London. 1898 First Thus 310pp Fine Binding. This copy is bound in original blue cloth covered boards with gilt titling and decoration and black embossed design to the upper board and spine. There is some typical offsetting to the endpapers. There is a neat inscription to the f.e.p. There is some typical age toning to the page edges but this does not affect the text. A dust wrapper is not called for. Amelia Edith Barr (Huddleston) (born March 29, 1831) in Ulverston, Lancashire, England, died March 10, 1919) was a British American novelist. In 1850 she married William Barr, and four years later they immigrated to the United States and settled in Galveston, Texas where her husband and three of their six children died of yellow fever in 1867. Forbidden romance between young Katherine van Heemskirk of New York and a dashing English captain leads to duels and disgrace in this historical romance that takes us back to the 1760s. The scene shifts between England and America on the cusp of the American Revolution, with political conflicts reflected in the struggle of the would-be lovers.
