This could be the nurseryman Thomas Rivers, who was known for developing new varieties of roses and fruits.Bound without half-title.Four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Rebound in a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A little rubbing to the boards and spine. Joints are a little cracked. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown and to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots. The occasional pencil annotation to the text, mostly to the last few leaves. Prior owner's ink poem to the last leaf of text. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page.
