Add to basketPaperback. This book shows that the old rules of investment-cheap labor, raw materials, and ports-have been superseded by digital ecosystems that attract knowledge-based capital. The book's central claim is crisp: "Capital will continue to follow ecosystems, not geography." It shows how cloud capacity, data regulation, AI clusters, and startup networks now act as the gravitational forces that draw FDI, making cities and corridors (not just countries) the primary units of competition. A second distinctive theme is how technology and institutions reshape what investors value. The author explains that AI, cloud infrastructure, data residency rules, and cybersecurity are now core site-selection criteria, and that trust-clear laws, IP protection, and predictable courts-reduces the real cost of doing business. As the book puts it, the new competitive variables are summed up in practice: "The new variables of the 21st century are intelligence, speed, and trust." This reframes policy: tax breaks alone won't win capital; building talent systems, digital readiness, and fast execution will. For college students and young professionals, the book is a practical roadmap. It highlights career opportunities in AI, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, fintech, and policy design, and stresses lifelong learning, cross-cultural collaboration, and digital fluency as career multipliers. The takeaway is actionable: specialize in high-demand digital skills, learn to work asynchronously across time zones, and seek roles inside ecosystems-startups, AI labs, or cloud hubs-where capital and opportunity are increasingly concentrated.
