If you’re looking for a Border Collie guide that actually understands the breed—not just generic dog advice—this handbook is designed for you.
The Border Collie is one of the most intelligent, energetic, and demanding dog breeds in the world. Without the right knowledge, owners can quickly feel overwhelmed by excessive energy, behavioral challenges, and unmet exercise or mental stimulation needs. This comprehensive care handbook gives you a clear, practical, and structured approach to raising a well-balanced, obedient, and healthy Border Collie from puppyhood through senior years.
Inside this complete guide, you will learn how to properly understand, train, and care for your Border Collie in a way that matches its natural instincts and working-dog heritage. Instead of struggling with behavior problems or confusion, you will discover how to build structure, communication, and trust with your dog.
This book covers everything you need, including breed history and temperament, foundational obedience training, advanced commands, mental stimulation techniques, exercise planning, grooming and coat maintenance, nutrition and health care, behavioral problem-solving, socialization with people and animals, working roles, dog sports, and senior care support.
You will also learn how to prevent and manage common issues such as excessive barking, destructive chewing, separation anxiety, herding behaviors, and reactivity. Each chapter is designed to help you understand not just what your Border Collie does, but why it behaves that way—and how to guide it effectively.
Whether you are a first-time owner or an experienced handler, this book provides step-by-step guidance to help you unlock your dog’s full potential. It emphasizes positive reinforcement, consistency, structure, and mental engagement—because a Border Collie does not thrive on exercise alone, but on purposeful activity and intelligent interaction.
By the end of this handbook, you will have the knowledge and confidence to raise a Border Collie that is not only well-trained, but also emotionally balanced, mentally fulfilled, and deeply connected to you.
If you want a calmer home, a more obedient dog, and a stronger bond with one of the most remarkable working breeds in the world, this guide will show you exactly how to achieve it.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
