From the Back Cover
The art and craft of bookbinding is as old as the writing of books, fulfilling the double function of protecting and embellishing the book. This how-to manual introduces you to the specific processes and techniques of bookbinding. The author opens with a review of bookbinding’s history, and then goes on to discuss the most commonly used materials—the items you’ll need, which include the small tools and equipment that are specific to the bookbinding craft. Next, he explains the procedures involved in producing a book—the sewing, gluing, folding, cutting, and decorating techniques, as well as several easy ways to paint paper. Finally, he presents 17 step-by-step bookbinding projects. Follow his clear, illustrated instructions and you will develop your skills as a knowledgeable and proficient bookbinder.
