Add to basketThis is a set of six books from The Book House for Children. Published in 1920-1921, each well-loved volume is an illustrated anthology of children's literature and poetry. You will find selections from Mother Goose, beloved fairy tales, Biblical stories, Aesop and many, many well-known writers and poets. Four of the volumes were published in 1920 and two were published in 1921. Generously illustrated, but generally illustrators are not identified. Thorough INDEXING of all volumes is at the end of Volume 6, described below.
Covers are black. An embossed design frames the pasted illustration on each front cover.
Spines have gold lettering and illustrations, all matching design.
Size: 9 3/8" tall by 7 3/8" wide. 1 1/4" thick -- The set uses 9" of shelf space.
GENERAL COMMENTS ON CONDITION, which speak to the fact that they were read and enjoyed!
1) Pages are browning, with a very faint "old book smell."
2) The illustrations on the front covers were originally pasted in place and obviously are worn and scratched.
3) These were published 106 years ago and reflect their age.
