(Griffiths, A bibliography of the BCP 1873/18) [title continues] proposed to the use of the Protestant Episcopal Church, at a convention of the said Church in the States of New-York, New-Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and South-Carolina, held in Philadelphia, from September 27th to October 7th, 1785. Philadelphia, printed: London, re-printed for J. Debrett. M,DCC,LXXXIX. -- `I hereby certify that this Prayer-Book, now reissued by the Reformed Episcopal Church, is--with the exception of the omitted portions, namely, the Visitation Office, the Proposed Articles of Religion, in which the original number was reduced to twenty, and the metrical Psalms--an exact reprint of the English edition of 1789. This Church retaining a liturgy which shall not be imperative or repressive of freedom in prayer, accepts the Book of Common Prayer, as it was revised, proposed, and recommended for use by the General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church A.D. 1785, reserving full liberty to alter, abridge, enlarge, and amend the same as may seem conducive to the edification of the poeple, "provided that the substance of faith be kept entire." .
