Full dark brown leather with two, flat bands across the spine, gilt-lettered title, decorations, gilt designs on the covers with early owner's name stamped in gold on the front cover: Rt. Pell; all edges gilt, light yellow, glazed endpapers. The spine ends, cover corners & edges show some wear; age-related tanning to the very thin paper pages, with a few tiny marginal splits to the paper, or turned over corners present. Small, heraldic embossed seal on the front free endpaper, early owner's signature in ink, on the back paste-down endpaper: Robt. Pell NY.
