Printed by S. Collins, for the Company of Stationers, MDCCXX [1720]. Notes: The Apocrypha is included; The New Testament has a separate title page. Bound in late 18th or early 19th-century English full maroon morocco leather, heavily worn, worn to the joints, gilt titles to the spine. Title page for the Book of Common Prayer is worn with loss (see photos) and with a frontispiece which is pasted on to a new sheet of paper. Title page for the Holy Bible present and dated 1719 (ditto for the New Testament). The whole volume collated with the above faults. Tanned, foxed and marked throughout, with marginal closed tears. Signatures: Book of Common Prayer A to H in gatherings of 8, I in gathering of 4; Old Testament A to Tt in gatherings of 8, Vv in gathering of 4; Apocrypha A to K in gatherings of 8; New Testament A to N in gatherings of 8, O in gathering of 4; Index A to E in gathering of 4; Psalms A to E in gatherings of 4, G in gathering of 2. With 187 plates. Page Aa8 torn with loss (see photo) to the gutter, inside corner missing. Provenance: bookplate for Marianne Elizabeth Hodges, annotated extensively to the end papers, the frontispiece and 3 loosely inserted sheets of paper giving the Hodges family tree. Approximately 10 ¼ tall by 7 ¾ wide by 3 ¾ inches wide. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles, worn and rubbed with loss. Joints good condition worn, intact. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition gilt decorated coarse grained morocco. Page edges good condition gilt decorated. See above and photos. Internally Hinges fair to good condition cracking to the hinge, leather intact. Paste downs good condition brown, leather bookplate for Hodges. End papers good condition brown, thereafter heavily annotated. Title good condition Common Prayer title page heavily worn with loss to the edges, tanned and foxed with marks.
