Handsome tan full leather binding, decorative gilt edging to boards, 5 raised bands to spine, gilt decoration to compartments and titles in red and brown label to second and third compartment, all edges gilt, marbled epps. Binding is by William Turner Morrell, a very fine 19th century bookbinders. No date but 1st edition was 1845 and 1st New Edition 1850. B&w illustration to frontispiece, very decorative title page, 254pp, decorative b&w border to pages, in-text illustrations,8pp of avertisements for further publications to rear. Corners are bumped, slight wear to edges of spine, offsetting to epps, light foxing to prelims. Overall, a very good book in a ery handsome binding.
