The college admissions process can be daunting, to say the least. No matter how well you are prepared for the multiple application requirements, the process can quickly become overwhelming for students and parents alike. When you turn to outside sources for advice, you often find several hundred-page books that are difficult to navigate.
This new guide, written by independent college advisor and educational consultant Jamie L. Reich, M.S., P.D., and school and college counselor Wesley Berkowitz, Ph.D., isn’t like that at all. Instead, the authors concisely cover everything you need to know to assemble a stellar application. Their guide includes topics such as how to:
- secure the best teacher recommendations
- decide whether to apply Early Action/Early Decision
- fill out the college application
- take advantage of campus visits
- ace college interviews
- demonstrate your strengths through extracurricular activities and Advanced Placement courses
- write a powerful personal essay
- compile everything needed to create a complete and in-depth application
Reich and Berkowitz use a question-and-answer format to address some of the most common anxieties about the college admissions process. Both professionals understand how stressful it can be for the entire family, but they will prove to you that the more confident and focused you are, the better prepared you will be for your meaningful future.
