Paperback. Puccini's La Boheme, retold as a novel. Paris, the 1830s: a poet, a painter, a philosopher, and a musician share a freezing garret and almost no money - until a seamstress with a cough and a cold hand knocks on the door for a light. Across a single winter - a snuffed candle, a crowded cafe on Christmas Eve, a quarrel at a tollgate in the snow, and a return to the garret that is too late - La Boheme: An Overture gives the most beloved of operas the inwardness only a novel can hold: the youth you only know you had once it is over. Part of the Overture Series - operas told as novels, written to be read in the weeks before you go, or while the music plays. Paced to Karajan's 1972 recording. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
