Physician, healer, and author Micah Howard MD, ABOIM has released Body of Work, his seventh book and sixth in the published collection of autobiographical poetry and prose. The book further documents the personal and professional evolution, offering a reflective examination of identity, vulnerability, and becoming.
Body of Work marks the sixth volume in Micah Howard MD’s ongoing series of autobiographic philosophopoetrology.
Dr. Howard is a Board-certified Integrative and Family Physician and serves as CEO and Medical Director of Healing University, Alabama’s first integrative primary care clinic, located in Decatur. A fellow and active associate in Integrative Medicine from the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, he received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His work integrates Western medicine with ancestral healing traditions, including Ayurvedic and Native American lineages, and is further informed by his training as a Certified Master Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner.
While recognized for his work in medicine and healing, Howard’s literary career predates his medical practice. He began publishing in his early twenties, choosing candor and vulnerability as defining elements of his voice—an approach that remains consistent more than two decades later.
According to editor Michael Stuart Dumas, Body of Work “captures a time in [Howard’s] life that has helped forge the healer dedicated to changing lives around the world,” inviting readers toward introspection and love of self.
Minimalist in form and direct in language, Body of Work presents each piece as a standalone offering. The collection resists performance and persuasion, favoring stillness, inquiry, and presence.
