After high school in 1949, he enlisted in the US Army and spent a year in Korea as an Army cook. The Army gave him great leeway in the kitchen, and his skills were broadened. Bobby Hackett acquired Fraher's Restaurant in late 1969 and held his Grand Opening on January 20,1970, 25 years ago. Opening his own shop, Bobby brought with him his years of mastery in the culinary arts. Now he instituted his own menu and introduced his famous choices of Clams Casino, Genuine Cape Scallops, Sauteed Shrimp and London Broil Bordelaise, among many original recipes described in his Cookbook, serving 'the best New England has to offer.'
