It is an incredibly detailed concert-by-concert, song-by-song exploration of Bob Dylan's 119 live concerts in Canada between 1962 and 2005. Extraordinarily well researched and rich in content, the book takes the reader on an amazing journey through performances spanning forty-three years by one of the most important figures in popular music. During this time Mr. Dylan has:
Played in twenty-six Canadian cities. Performed 1,923 songs in Canada that have been documented. Played 241 different songs. Performed seventy-seven songs only once in Canada. Played eleven songs that made their worldwide live debut in Canada. Performed 181 individual songs from thirty-five different albums. Played 8 unreleased songs. Performed 52 cover and/or traditional songs. Opened his Canadian concerts with thirty different songs and closed them with twenty-one different songs. Toured and performed with 65 different band members. Toured in Canada with 26 different acts, be it opening acts or bands on a shared bill. Performed at sixty-two different venues in Canada.
Laid out in an easy-to-read format and jam packed with information, the book includes:
An introduction to each year Dylan has toured in Canada. Set list data. 229 concert reviews from 53 publications. 18 indexes of statistical analysis covering Songs Performed, Songs Performed by Album, Concerts by City, Concerts by Venue and even Concerts by Day of the Month. Colour reproductions of 82 ticket stubs. And much more.
