Neuware - 'The Boar's Head and Yule Log as Celebrated at Hoosac School' is an illuminating account of the traditional winter pageantry and festive rites held at the historic Hoosac School in New York. The work details the specific liturgical and celebratory customs surrounding the Boar's Head festival and the burning of the Yule Log, traditions that trace their origins back to ancient English folklore and medieval celebrations. By documenting the carols, costumes, and procedural elements of the ceremony, this book captures the essence of a unique educational heritage that seeks to preserve old-world charm and communal spirit. The text provides a comprehensive look at how these historical ceremonies were adapted and maintained within an American school setting during the early 20th century. It emphasizes the symbolic importance of the boar's head as a centerpiece of the feast and the ritualistic lighting of the Yule Log as a symbol of warmth and renewal. This volume serves as an invaluable resource for historians of holiday traditions, enthusiasts of liturgical drama, and those interested in the cultural history of private education in the United States.
