Corners a bit bumped, sunning at the edges of the boards, and small stain on the foredge, else very good in very good dust jacket with old internally repaired tear, a faint stain along the top of the rear panel, with the price intact on the front flap of the jacket. A landmark book and one of the scarcest first books of the 1970s in any genre. This title has taken its place among other notable books that have been banned from public circulation by those too small-minded, myopic, or lazy to distinguish between excellence and prurience. A reasonable example of the Nobel Laureate's scarce first novel. Morrison was the first African-American woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. The early editions must have had very small first printings. This is NOT the Book of the Month printing which also used third printing sheets, but did not have a price on the jacket.
