Segun Akinyode was born in Ilaro, a rustic town in the southwestern part of Nigeria where he had his elementary and secondary education. He got employed as a classroom teacher in a secondary school only to resign after twelve months. Still interested in teaching, he sought classroom teaching again and was employed to teach in a local primary school before teaming up with an itinerant musical group. Six months later, he proceeded to the famous Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria where he obtained a combined honors degree in English/education. Segun, who still regard himself as a fledgling academic, has been teaching Communication Skills and African Literature in the Department of General Studies, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Nigeria, since December 1991. His reactions to the sociopolitical tumblings of his environment can be perused at nigeriansinamerica.com; his short stories and academic write-ups are at africanwriter.com and his website: http://akinyode.awardspace.com
