At first, the admiral had the misfortune of losing an important battle against the Reptiloids of the Thunder Worlds when he attempted to rescue Johnny Trevor; one of his patrolmen. He lost the space battle, his right arm, and Johnny Trevor was ultimately killed by the Reptiloids! Soon after he returned home from the battle, his wife died of cancer. This caused the admiral to ultimately retire; living alone in the forests of east Texas and with few friends; and no family or children.
But after he retired to live out his days alone on the planet Earth, the admiral regularly went to the library in Madisonville, the town where he lived and researched to find out what he did wrong that lost the battle for Imperial forces; and what he should have done to win the battle and not lose his arm. When he finally researched enough to know what he had to do; the admiral contacted one of his military friends, Captain Gallant, and called in several hundred years of favors in order to get some military equipment that he needed. In the library Blow also researched cancer cures; and he researched areas in present-day Egypt where two archaeologists were spending their lives searching for valuable ancient Egyptian artifacts.
When Jonathan Blow had researched and found all the information that he needed, he went to visit one of his old friends to help him construct a plan to literally erase and remake his naval career and his personal life! Dr. Chance Watson was an expert in "time travel"2 and because of the favors that Admiral Blow had given him in the past; the scientist gave him ultra-advanced "time travel devices"!
Using the devices, the retired admiral sent an important message to himself in the past; advising himself on how to win the battle against the Reptiloids by using a ship that he can find at a location on an Egyptian river bank. He also advised himself not to let his wife go through chemotherapy and radiation treatments to attempt to cure her cancer; but to use a new treatment that used microwaves to destroy the cancer and leave the normal cells alone! He also sent a large military courier ship to the river bank in ancient Egypt; so that back in the past, he could find it and use it to defeat the Reptiloids!
All the "time tinkering" by Jonathan Baines Blow created a good deal of stress on the Main Galactic Time Line; causing all of Creation to shake and if not something was quickly done; be totally destroyed! But the dangerous situation is remedied by the intervention of a very powerful being at the edge of the "Great Dark"; who quickly quiets all the tremors!
But back in the past, on a strange note, the Admiral received the good advice from himself; which he followed by using the military equipment that he sent himself; and he wins the battle against the Reptiloids and rescues his patrolman! He followed the advice about his wife's cancer treatment; thus, his wife was saved from cancer, and together over the long years of their marriage, the couple had seven children and a large number of family friends; which they entertain regularly on Friday nights on their large estate!
