Modern society encourages us to embrace the power of anger. Indeed, the world sees the passion of anger as a virtue that can be used to help right wrongs. But what do Scripture and the Fathers say about it? Does this passion have a place in our walk with Christ? Is expressing outrage at societal ills a true reflection of God's attitude toward these evils, or does it instead blind us to His presence? Father Theodore Pulcini, a frequent lecturer on the subject of anger, and Oswin Craton, join together to examine how anger affects our journey toward theosis.
About the Authors:
Father Theodore Pulcini is a retired priest of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. He is also professor emeritus of religion at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, whose teaching focused on biblical texts, early and Eastern Christianity, and Islam. Presently serving as the Orthodox chaplain for the Dickinson campus ministry, he is also a faculty member of the Antiochian House of Studies, directing the applied theological projects component of their certificate and degree programs.
Oswin Craton was born and grew up in Alabama but currently lives in Indiana. He is the author of Holy Fools and Orthodox Saints of Wales (Ancient Faith Publishing) and also of A Journey of Fear and Joy, which is the story of his journey to Orthodoxy from a fundamentalist Protestant background. He is known in the music world under his birth name John, and as a composer of classical music has written a number of ballets, operas, concertos, and other orchestral and chamber works that have been performed internationally. He is a member of All Saints Orthodox Church in Bloomington, Indiana. His patron saint is St. Oswin of Deira.
