About the Author: Emory Douglas, who has resided in California's Bay Area since 1951, began his art studies at the City College of San Francisco. He became associated with the radical Black Panther Party in 1967, and soon became the Black Panther newspaper's art director and chief artist. His posters were distributed widely in Black communities in the US and Europe.
