If You Bite It – You Write it!
Have you ever sunk your teeth into a new dish, pastry, dessert, or barbecue and knew you just had to have the recipe? The taste may have been so overwhelming that you needed to try to re-create it yourself. Consequently, you may have quickly written the instructions and ingredients on whatever scrap of paper was available.Recipes come from many sources and the memory of how the recipe comes together fades quickly. To preserve those recipes for future use and to keep your memories alive for your children and grandchildren to get a glimpse of your personal history, you should write them down in your blank recipe journal. By completing one or more blank keepsake recipe journals with entries from other generations, you can see the progression of changes in the home cooking world. Recipes from the early 1900s may call for a pound of flour today's recipe might call for 4 cups of flour. There may be other differences as well.
If you bite it – you write it recipes are for those dishes that excited your taste buds and you knew early on they were important enough to write down.
If you are like many of us you most likely have recipes scattered about in several different locations in your home. They may be recipes you have tried and found to be a family favorite. Or perhaps they are recipes you have come across but have not had time yet to experience. Maybe you have gone to a family or workplace gathering and discovered a dish that you just knew you needed the recipe and jotted it down quickly on the nearest scrap of paper you could find.
This journal is our offering to help you better organize your recipes and keep them close at hand. You will no longer need to search the cloud or your hard drive for that long lost family recipe. It will be right there on the shelf where you can easily get to it. You may even find yourself questioning whether or not you need to keep another copy in a safe location so as not to be destroyed by fire or flood.
As the name of the book implies, you are encouraged to write in this recipe journal. Make it your own. Pass it on. This is a blank canvas (blank journal) that will be unique to you. This is not another recipe book but is ajournal or diary of those recipes that match your taste, your style, and have become your favorites.
In this recipe book you will be able to:
- Record up to 100 of your favorite recipes organized in the way you desire
- Easily record preparation times, cooking times, and serving sizes
- Create your personalized custom table of contents by recipe name with a cross-reference to the page where you can find the ingredient list and instructions.
- Add notes about the recipe
- Add a reference to the source where you found the recipe (think great grandmother's hand down)
It is a great size (8.5 x 11 in) – large enough to have adequate writing space to jot down everything needed and to be easily read.
This journal would make a great gift for anyone you know that spends time in their kitchen and takes pride in the foods they prepare. This could make a great stocking stuffer at Christmas time or make for a most welcome gift for anyone just starting on their own in a new apartment or home.
One additional benefit is that this personalized recipe journal can be passed along to other generations preserving a bit of your personalized handwriting and give them an insight into what foods were important to you and possibly why.
