The Words That Built America, In One Essential Volume
In the span of just two decades, a handful of documents transformed thirteen quarrelling colonies into a self-governing republic. This collection brings those founding writings together so you can read the actual words that declared independence, framed a government, and defined the liberties Americans still live by today.
From the fiery call of Patrick Henry to the measured architecture of the Constitution, these are the primary sources themselves, unabridged and exactly as they shaped the nation.
Inside this volume you'll find:
- The Declaration of Independence: the document that severed ties with Britain and announced a new nation to the world
- The U.S. Constitution: the framework of American government, in full
- The Bill of Rights: the ten amendments that guarantee individual liberty
- Thomas Paine's Common Sense: the pamphlet that turned colonial opinion toward revolution
- Patrick Henry's ""Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death"": the speech that gave the cause its battle cry
- Plus the Articles of Confederation, the Virginia Declaration of Rights, Washington's Farewell Address, key Federalist Papers, and more
Whether you're a student, a history lover, a teacher, or simply a citizen who wants to read the founding words for yourself, this is a collection to keep, revisit, and pass on.
Published for the 250th anniversary of American independence, a keepsake edition for every American bookshelf.
