Amid the busyness that accompanies the Christmas season, what we need all the more is to behold the Son. Christmas commemorates one of the greatest events in human history--when the Word became flesh, when the birth all history had been preparing for came to pass, when God in His glory announced the advent of His Son. At the first Christmas God arranged the entire world to welcome His Son, yet we still find ourselves needing to arrange our own Christmas to welcome the Lord Jesus. The Birth of the King is designed to help us in that very task. Day by day, this devotional walks you through the entire Christmas story, starting in the Old Testament and culminating in the New, so that you can see the full weight of Christmas from anticipation to fulfillment. Each devotion reflects on a passage of Scripture, expounding the unique facets of one of the most glorious moments of history. In these pages you will discover: The wonder of Old Testament prophecies and promisesThe true meaning of Matthew's genealogy of the MessiahThe rich theology in the songs of Mary, Simeon, and AnnaThe significance of Christ's description as the Word made fleshA glimpse from the book of Revelation of Christ's return as King of kings Each devotional reading concludes with study questions to help you meditate on these rich truths or discuss them with family and friends. Make much of Christ this season as you meditate on what Scripture reveals about Him. What others are saying about The Birth of the King "One of the most monumental events in the history of humanity was the birth of Jesus Christ. At the fullness of the time, the Savior was born, the King was born, God in human flesh was born. Abner Chou's latest book, The Birth of the King, will stir believers to savor this precious truth and joyfully worship King Jesus during the Christmas season." -- H. B. CHARLES, JR., Pastor-Teacher, Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida Host of The On Preaching Podcast "I love this devotional for several reasons: it places the birth of Jesus in the sweep of the bigger story of Scripture, it is filled with insights into the promises of Christ's coming, it consistently draws our attention to the glory of Jesus Himself, and it leads us into personal reflection and family discussion with thoughtful questions. I commend this for setting your mind and heart on Christ during Advent." -- DREW HUNTER, Lead Pastor, Zionsville Fellowship, Zionsville, Indiana "J.I. Packer appropriately observed, 'nothing in fiction is so fantastic as is this truth of the incarnation.' After all, could there possibly be a better story than the arrival of the Creator? In this biblically rich, yet digestible devotional, Dr. Abner Chou directs our minds and inflames our hearts with the truth of the Savior who came. Whether read as an individual or family, this devotional will help you to 'come and adore' the King who came and one day, is coming back." -- JONNY ARDAVANIS, Lead Pastor, Stonebridge Bible Church, Franklin, Tennessee Author of Consider the Lilies: Finding Perfect Peace in the Character of God About the Author Dr. Abner Chou is the president of The Master's University and Seminary, and the John F.
