The British Birdwatching Fair, held every August at the Egleton Nature Reserve at Rutland Water, attracted around 15,000 visitors last year. One of the most popular attractions in the Events Marquee is the Bird Brain of Britain contest. Following the format of the television programme Mastermind, each of the four experts must answer a set of questions on their nominated specialist subject, and a second set on general (ornithological) knowledge. This book reproduces all of the questions asked in the contest over its 11-year lifespan. The questions are difficult and varied enough to test any birder's knowledge, and will provide many hours of challenging entertainment.

Dr Charles Gallimore has been compiling the questions for Bird Brain of Britain since its inception.

Tim Appleton is the originator and co-organiser of the bird fair.

Bill Oddie is an English author, actor, comedian, artist, naturalist and musician. Having been interested in bird watching from an early age, Bill Oddie developed an established reputation as a keen and committed birdwatcher and has written a number of bestselling books on this subject including the legendary Bill Oddie's Little Black Bird Book. His many television credits include being the first presenter of Springwatch.
