Paperback. Biomimetic dentistry is an advanced approach that aims to restore teeth by imitating the natural structure, function, and biomechanics of dental tissues. In conservative dentistry and endodontics, this philosophy focuses on preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible while restoring damaged or decayed portions using materials and techniques that replicate the tooth's natural properties. In conservative dentistry, biomimetic principles guide cavity design, adhesive techniques, and material selection to mimic the tooth's dentin-enamel complex. Adhesive bonding systems and composite resins are chosen for their ability to replicate the natural tooth's elastic modulus and stress distribution. This reduces the likelihood of marginal leakage, secondary caries, and restoration failure. Techniques such as incremental layering and the use of fiber-reinforced composites further enhance the strength and longevity of restorations by reproducing the tooth's natural resilience and flexibility. In endodontics, the biomimetic approach emphasizes maintaining the tooth's integrity and function after root canal treatment. This item is printed on demand.
